Format & Number of CFL Meetings
Hinda Greenberg reported that the Consortium members felt that 3 meetings
a year was a good number. As an experiment, the Fall Meeting will be hosted
by a member; the Spring Meeting will be held during the Special Libraries
Association Annual Meeting, and the Winter Meeting will be a virtual meeting
(with a conference call).
Discount on GrantsCrafts Products
Hinda Greenberg received an email from John Naughton, Ford Foundation.
As a partner, Consortium members receive a 20% discount on their publications

News/Announcements
Michele Butler, David & Lucile Packard Foundation
The library is now information services and reports to the Communications Dept.
They are making changes on their website to reflect these changes.
Debbie Summer - California HealthCare Foundation
In March her supervisor left. A new Director of Communications and Publications
was just hired and will start in October. In the interim, she has been busy filling
in with publicity and outreach on their services. The healthcare site and chronic
disease care conference in November have been keeping them busy.
John Chalmers, Chicago Community Trust
He has been focus on developing the records management component of his position.
He used the Cleveland Foundation as a model in developing policy. Kintera is installed
and moving forward with it. They have gone thru one grant cycle electronically.
Gail Schaub, Council on Michigan Foundations
She reported the addition of the online catalog to their website and the
promotion of its use, an INMagic product. There annual conference is next week
so she has been busy with its preparations.
Nan Schichtel, Grand Valley State University
The Johnson Center conducted a shifting paradigm conference.
Leigh Hallingby, Soros Foundation, Open Society Institute
They are setting up a library in the Washington, DC office. The New York
office will continue to respond to information requests as they come along.
They just celebrated their 10th anniversary.
Ron Sexton, Carnegie Corporation of New York
They are moving into a new space. He has been their records manager in
publications for the last 5 years and convinced the organization to give
them the necessary space. They are downsizing their Urban High School Reform.
With Ford Foundation and the John D. & Catherine T. McArthur Foundation, they are
celebrating the 5-year anniversary for African Higher Education.
Suzanne Cole, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Bernadette Pierre, Rockefeller Foundation
Their biggest project is with Knowledge Management. They are integrating all
their library collections into one common ILS.
Suzanne Pichler, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
Affiliate organizations, ArtStor and Ithaca, are now operating. They have a
total of three librarians on staff now. The library is temporarily relocated
and all over the place due to renovations. They are involved in research
projects dealing with higher education and opportunity and improving access
to individuals of lower economic status.
Hinda Greenberg, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
They finally launched PINS (new info management system). It is much better but
still with a financial focus. It does not let you learn or evaluate. They have a
strong program in documenting grantee products. Articles are now available on their
website but copyright negotiation been very difficult (Elsevier & Blackwell problems!!).
With their Quality Improvement initiative, they are improving ways grantees interact
with RWJF. The Information Center is fortunate to have Susanne Cole and Hinda's
assistant returned after 4 months leave. They have been conducting lots of
training sessions due to large turnover in staff and program associates being
promoted to program officers.
Brenda Burk, IUPUI University Library
They are moving forward with FOLIO (FOundation LIterature Online) in partnership
with the Foundation Center. The library will capture and preserve documents
from PubHub. PRO (Philanthropy Resources Online) continues to grow with the
additional of Giving USA. It is available at http://indiamond.ulib.iupui.edu/PRO/
Michael Munson, Council on Foundations
Their new CEO starts today. The Library is one man shop with 50 requests
quarterly and 2400 items cataloged. He is doing brown bags sessions to
increase visibility of the library. He is also working with the IT Department
testing applications built in-house and working with the web team.
Hinda Greenberg thanked Michael for hosting CFL's website and keeping it up-to-date.
The meeting adjourned at 2:11 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
